STUDENTS: If you’ve been struggling to find a flexible, safe, or non-judgemental learning environment to learn Te Reo Māori then, this course is for you!

 

INTRODUCING THE 20 WEEK HOEA TE WAKA COURSE!

Learn to speak the Māori language in a safe and fun environment while having fun along the way. This is where you begin to build your confidence with speaking, listening, and building comprehension of the language. Speak reo in the home, in the community and with whānau and friends. If you are already in the waka, let's keep going, or, if you are new to our waka, bring your paddle and let's go on this journey together. He Waka Eke Noa


Hoea te waka will teach you to be more conversational with the Māori language and will cover the following:

  • Whanaungatanga – Building a safe and comfortable environment to learn while creating connections with others to speak with.

  • Cementing learning from the ‘Kia Mau ki te Hoe’ course and adapting to new situations

  • Using a variety of sentence structures to allow conversations – Action, descriptive, negation sentences, advanced questioning sentences

  • Building better understanding of the Ā/Ō category – singular and plural

  • Learn how to speak about whanau and whakapapa with confidence and be able to explain your family tree in te reo

  • Building a solid comprehension of listening to understand the language

  • Build our speaking comprehension through scenario-based conversations

  • Develop understanding and comprehension of spoken Māori, to be able to follow Māori news stories and content. Podcast, Māori television etc.

  • Build confidence to speak at home, in the community, at gatherings and listen to new people speak the language with more comprehension.

  • Explore whakataukī and kīwaha

  • Overcome trauma that has prevented you from being your authentic self.

  • +1 x weekly online lesson facilitated by Zoom. Each session runs for approx. 90-120 minutes over 20 weeks. (20 lessons in total)

    +A weekly action plan so that you can self-direct your own learning and help you to korero Māori in your own time

    +Access to our private Facebook community so you can meet with your peers, learn together and celebrate each other’s progress!

  • Each class has a range of time slots each week, so that you can choose the best time for your schedule!

    Typically there are both weeknight and weekend options available.

    For specific timetables, please send us a message and we will provide the timetable for your class.

    Class times are in the AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time Zone)

  • There is an upfront admin and enrolment cost of $30+ GST

    For the remainder of the 20-week foundation program, an ongoing weekly payment schedule of $30+ GST will be set up by our direct debit partner for the duration of your enrolment, making things easy for both of us to manage.

    Students outside of Australia will not be required to pay GST

  • Our goal is to help guide you, build your confidence and enjoy speaking te reo in the comfort of your own home!
