Frequently Asked Questions

  • Kāore/no you do not need to know your pepeha to enrol in our courses. We completely understand that not everyone has been fortunate enough to grow up with the knowledge of their whakapapa.       We will do our best to point you in the right direction to seek out this information but it doesn't make you any less Māori to us if you do not have this knowledge.

  • We have a 4 week withdrawal policy across all of our courses. For this withdrawal to be accepted we require you to send us an email detailing your reasons for wishing to withdraw.. 

  • We are based in Ahitereiria/Australia but our courses are aimed at Māori all over the world. We have had ākonga enroll in our courses from Aotearoa, Australia, America, Japan, England, France, Ireland, Japan, Dubai, Bali, Hawaii, Singapore and Korea.

  • As we are a mixed bag of iwi and hapū from all around the world, we teach the general Māori language. This is to ensure that we keep everyone safe. We do however encourage people to explore their own dialect if and when they are ready. We would also support indivduals to utilise their own dialect if they felt comfortable doing so. 

  • Āe it is definitely ok if you don’t know how to use zoom. We have a step by step  guide that will be shared with you before the course starts so that you feel comfortable being a part of your first zoom class. But, if you still feel a little unsure about how to navigate through zoom please reach out to us via facebook or email.

We are very particular about the teachers that we hire to deliver our curriculum as we understand firsthand the trauma and anxiety that can come with learning/re learning Te Reo Māori. We are beyond grateful and proud to have such dedicated and passionate people within these roles.

    As a Te Reo Māori provider we also offer our kaiako ongoing support to ensure that they continue to grow and develop their skills..

  • At the completion of your course you will receive a Piki Te Hauora certificate which will & an outline what you have covered & learnt. Please note that our courses are not NZQA approved and so that we can continue to deliver our courses in a way that we believe better caters to multiple different learning styles we don’t plan on becoming NZQA approved in the near future.

  • Piki Te Hauora formed as a Kanohi ki te kanohi Te Reo Māori provider in 2019. We transitioned into an online Te Reo Māori provider in March 2020.

  • Yes, we welcome anyone who has a genuine passion to learn our ātaahua language, so regardless of your ethnicity you are welcome to join our Piki Te Hauora whānau. All we ask is that you have a desire to embrace and encourage our language to grow and thrive.
